Highly Qualified Special Education Teachers

The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLBA) requires each state and district to ensure that all educators teaching in “core academic subjects” are “highly qualified.” The link below will provide information regarding highly qualified teacher requirements under the NCLBA in North Dakota.

Teacher licensure in North Dakota is based upon transcripted majors and minors from approved colleges of teacher education. The North Dakota Professional Educator’s License is issued by the ND Education Standards and Practices Board (ESPB). (External link)

The DPI Office of Special Education no longer issues credentials or endorsement except for the Special Education Director's Credential.
